finally

So my quest for a perfume that smells exactly like Kiehl's Grapefruit lotion has ended--they made their own, Grapefruit 1976. And I don't think it's a coincidence that this scent was originally introduced the year I came into this world.

in the red

The cover of the new Vogue makes me want to wear red lipstick, which I probably haven't done since my fifth grade dance recital. I love Reese, and since some friends of mine from college went to high school with her...well, we're practically best friends.

packing light

If I was one of those front row fashion editors, I think I'd throw one of these sweet little solid perfumes from Tocca in my bag. Guess I could do that just being a regular ole worker bee, too.

new at target

You know the story--I just stopped in for some toothpaste...and nearly lost it in the makeup aisle. Good looking stuff by JK Jemma Kidd and Pixi. Believe it or not, I only left with this lip treat, the perfect "no, I'm not wearing any makeup" secret.

paris souvenir

I'm not sure if I like Egyptian musk, but I sure do like this little bottle of it from Colette.

i love stripes

I haven't tried any Korres products yet, but this wonderful striped packaging sure is tempting me. Good thing I have oily skin.

beach essentials: sunscreen

I just recently started using this sunscreen, Shiseido SPF 55 lotion, instead of moisturizer, primer, foundation, etc. Not only does it protect my face, it has an amazing oil-control side effect--even in this humid Georgia climate.

five star scent

I'm so proud. My favorite perfume of all time (I've been wearing it since I was 12, thanks to a quiz I took in Seventeen magazine) was given 5 stars in the new book, Perfumes: The Guide. Sort of a Zagat's for perfume--should be fun to read, since I've actually read that little red book cover to cover.

tickled pink

A couple of weeks ago I stopped in the little make-up store in Inman Park, Tracy Ewell. I walked out with a new lipstick, Kyss by FACE Stockholm, and I've been happy ever since. Those girls do a nice job of helping you pick out what you want, and not making you feel like you need to buy anything else.

rich hippie

I have not the slightest idea why I am so intrigued by these scents, as I am neither rich nor a hippie. Must be the stylish packaging sucking me in.

summer scents

My favorite summer scents: Miller Harris' Tangerine Vert (especially love the bottle), Olivina Hand Creme (especially love the silver tube), Annick Goutal's Eau d'Hadrien (just classic), and fresh cut limes.

mario badescu

A couple of weeks ago, I started using this to wash my face. It took a little bit to get used to the non-foaming action, but now I love it. Especially the scent--I want to use it more than just twice a day. Which is not a bad thing when you have oily skin and the humidity is setting in down south.

Swedish Soaps

Has anyone (I mean all 3 of you reading this) ever tried these Swedish Eggwhite Facial Soaps? They have always sounded like fun to me.

Nanadebary Green

Who wouldn't want this adorable bottle on their dresser?

Miracle Cream

I have cured my winter dry hands and ragged cuticles with this cream. I'm not kidding, this stuff really works. I got mine at Entebello; you can get it here, too.

All of My Problems Solved

Went to the mall today, and it was a zoo--felt like the middle of December. In Sephora, I found these two essential oil sets by Philosophy. They can be added to the bath, or just inhaled on a tissue. I'm probably going to need "for the stressies" to get me back to the mall for my holiday shopping.

Ready, Set, Go

Even though I'm terrified of flying and rarely travel outside of three (car) hours from home, I like my beauty products petite and ready to go. As if I could grab my passport and my one quart Ziploc bag and be on a plane by tonight. Trish, Bliss, and This Works fit the bill.

Beauty Essentials

Lipstick and blush may come and go, but there are three things that I always seem to keep around: Trish McEvoy's Base Essentials keeps my eyelids from looking purple, Cover Girl's Volume Exact Mascara brings my invisible eyelashes into view, and you just can't go wrong with Cherry ChapStick. Especially since you can pretty much get it in any drugstore, grocery, or gas station in America.

Malin + Goetz

Not really sure how these two guys got into the development of skin and haircare formulations (although one did work for Kiehl's, and one throws great dinner parties?), but their products sound great. Two steps for everything: face, hair, body. And I've always been a sucker for utilitarian packaging.

Three More Wishes

So I read about this "blister elixir" here, and I might just have to give it a try. Supposed to create "a smooth, dry, slippery surface that prevents the rubbings and irritations that cause blisters." I swear, if I had three wishes, this would be one of them. Guess I better start thinking of something else to wish for. Made by Peaches and Boo Boo (what the heck kinda name is that?), you can buy it at Smallflower.
