check, please!

Maybe it's my country girl roots, but I am really into gingham these days.

html lesson

A couple of details from last weekend's trip to the cabin: 1. Squash blossom, 2. Sunflower ready to open.
P.S. This post is a bit of an Html instruction lesson from my computer friend Charlie. He describes Html as quite elegant, I call it quite wacky.

anna griffin papers

On a little trip to my hometown yesterday (I know you're dying to know--it's Canton), I bought this little pack of papers by Anna Griffin at Michael's. Very David Hicks-ish, no? Should I use them for invitations? photo mats? love letters? The possibilities are endless.

good genes

Such a lovely outfit, worn by Charlotte Casiraghi. I'm guessing she got those cheekbones from her grandmother.

isca greenfield-sanders

I fell head over heels for the work of this artist, as featured in Elle Decor July/August 2008.

"I, Laura, take thee, Michael Stars, to be my favorite t-shirt, to have and to hold forever, 'til death do us part."

tickled pink

A couple of weeks ago I stopped in the little make-up store in Inman Park, Tracy Ewell. I walked out with a new lipstick, Kyss by FACE Stockholm, and I've been happy ever since. Those girls do a nice job of helping you pick out what you want, and not making you feel like you need to buy anything else.

at the cabin

Spent last weekend at my parents' cabin, probably the most relaxing place (to me) on earth.

rich hippie

I have not the slightest idea why I am so intrigued by these scents, as I am neither rich nor a hippie. Must be the stylish packaging sucking me in.

new york recs, anyone?

Trying to plan a little trip to NYC this Fall--does anyone have any hotel recommendations? I especially like white comforters and good shampoo.

it's the little things

I found these little dishes via the precious blog Thoughtful Day. Made by Beehive Kitchenware Company, where I also found lots of other wonderful things. I think I'd use them to rest my spoon between multiple cups of coffee.

all dressed up

Could there be anything better than a dressy white t-shirt? Only if it came in heather gray.

gertrude bell

I think it's sort of funny that I just started reading a book about a woman exploring the desert, and then my air conditioner broke. Nevertheless, I think this title is going to be very interesting. I imagine she slept in wonderful tents, and amassed quite a collection of textiles along the way.

hot, hot, hot

I certainly enjoy receiving my favorite travel magazine--er, j.crew catalog--each month. I loved the recent pictures of Morocco, and I'm guessing that sitting under a tent in the desert is a lot like sitting in your house in the summer in Georgia without air conditioning. Thankfully we got a new one today, so I won't have to experience that again anytime soon.

ana candles

This picture of my garlic bloom reminds me that I've been wanting to do some candle updating on the mantle. Ana Candles are my favorite; these are the ones I've been thinking about.

today's favorite flower: poppies

I've got poppies on my mind lately. Maybe because I found these wonderful cards from Etsy sellers Michelle Brusegaard and pixielimpress.
P.S. I think the photo credit here goes to my friend Charlie Hubbard. Happy 3rd Anniversary!

my new crush

Can you have a crush on gift wrap? Because if you can, then I have one on those made by Etsy seller rifferaff.

a simple bloom

From some home-grown garlic--pretty cool, huh?

I so enjoy seeing the inspiration notebooks and collages that creative people put together. These are a few of my favorites from the past few weeks. And I love this inspiration board by Chelsea, too.

love, love, love

I just love this image: the girl, her outfit, the room, the blue, the sofa--all of it. Sofa from pure by amy mckay, via design*sponge

summerfest

I'm excited that this weekend is Summerfest, a fun street festival in the Virginia-Highland neighborhood in Atlanta. I'm not so excited that I will be spending most of my weekend in an infant feeding course for work.

fresh fruit

Right after I get that beach house (please see previous post), I'm going to sit down and mail all my friends postcards with these adorable stamps. Although there's no telling how much postage is going to be by the time I have that house. Found via Daily Candy.

best beach house ever

The ever-stylish Habitually Chic posted these pictures of the best beach house ever, in the history of the world, period. This probably won't come as a shocker--it belongs to the head of marketing for J. Crew (Margot Brunelle Fooshee) and was decorated by Ruthie Sommers. If that isn't a combination for perfection, I don't know what is. See the rest of the pictures here.

summer scents

My favorite summer scents: Miller Harris' Tangerine Vert (especially love the bottle), Olivina Hand Creme (especially love the silver tube), Annick Goutal's Eau d'Hadrien (just classic), and fresh cut limes.

summertime suiting

Seersucker gets me everytime (Trey wore seersucker pants in our wedding). Especially when it's in the shape of a little throw-me-on-and-look-cute shift.

I am loving these fabrics by Etsy seller pippijoe via decor8.

um, dad?

So they found $11 million worth of marijuana plants at the Shoal Creek Hunting Club??!? As a charter member, Dad, you might have some explaining to do!
Correction: The plants were found on property belonging to the State of Georgia.
