new how-to book

I wonder if this book will be any good? Going to have to wait a few more days to find out--it comes out October 7.

how 'bout them dawgs

Can they do it? I am so nervous about this game--I hope Knowshon has his jumping shoes on again tonight. I'd say College Gameday+possible #1 ranking+night game in Athens = a record night for Jim Beam consumption.

new calendar

In the spirit of Fall Fashion Weeks, I just bought this little calendar on Etsy. I found the cute little blog, Draw, Draw, Draw via Chelsea.

fashion week faves: marni

Does this count as lace? 'Cause I love it.

fashion week faves: prada

Well done, Miuccia. Especially love the printed, straight skirt with the simple top. I think I can definitely pull this one off.

packing light

If I was one of those front row fashion editors, I think I'd throw one of these sweet little solid perfumes from Tocca in my bag. Guess I could do that just being a regular ole worker bee, too.

good advice

After studying the fashion editors front row in Milan, I've decided three key components of a stylish wardrobe include a pink scarf, gray cardigan, and a striped shirt. Lucky for me, I already have all three in my closet.

sign me up

Yes, please sign me up for the GOOP newsletter, thus officially making the lovely Gwyneth my lifestyle guru. It's about time someone took the reins over here.

monday night tacos

For tonight's dinner, I will try to replicate the shrimp tacos with avocado mayo and charred corn salsa that I had for lunch at Bud & Alley's Taco Bar in Seaside. Sure is a lot easier just to order them.

fonville press

So I think my dream job might be to have a little, fancy coffee/bookshop like Fonville Press in Alys Beach. I would probably stay up all day and night, just drinking coffee and reading magazines.

sig samuels dry cleaners

I love my dry cleaners. They are absolutely the nicest guys in the world, and I always leave with a smile on my face. I loved this write-up about them in the AJC.

fashion week faves: behnaz sarafpour

I know I'm a little late on this NY Fashion Week post...but Behnaz sure does make some pretty dresses for morning, noon, and night. From style.com.

i love collages

On Ill Seen, Ill Said (she found them via Dear Ada), I found these wonderful collages by Shelly Kommers. Her blog is heaven for a girl who used to have a collage of Sports Illustrated images hanging in her bedroom in high school (Pete Sampras figured prominently).

brandi + nate

Last weekend, we attended the Destin wedding of friends Brandi and Nate. Those two weren't afraid to tempt Mother Nature--with Ike threatening Florida's Gulf Coast--and they succeeded in the end. They used the shell painted by Brandi's mother as their motif, and I loved her choice of orange on the beach. Trey threw in his Nantucket Reds for some more color, and we all drank hurricanes and had a blast.

i'm sure of it

Headed out of town for a bit, be back soon! Print by Jen Renninger at Etsy.

fashion week faves: peter som

Separates for night? In bright orange and pink? Sure! From Peter Som Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear at style.com.

fashion week faves: lela rose

I do love a little skirt + top + jacket combo. From Lela Rose Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear, at style.com.

the good life

Before hitting the Morningside Market (see below), we indulged in a croissant and coffee from Alon's Bakery--a must go if you are ever in town.

morningside market

Believe it or not, these pictures aren't from the French countryside, they are from last Saturday morning at the Morningside Market in Atlanta. My purchases are the ones on the bottom right.

on the bedside table

Can't wait to dive into this one, before seeing the movie. This bedroom is from the amazing renovation by David and Tyler Colgan, in the September 2008 issue of Cottage Living.

new at target

You know the story--I just stopped in for some toothpaste...and nearly lost it in the makeup aisle. Good looking stuff by JK Jemma Kidd and Pixi. Believe it or not, I only left with this lip treat, the perfect "no, I'm not wearing any makeup" secret.

goodbye, summer

But how did it go by so fast? It's hard to say goodbye (especially when it doesn't cool off around here until October), but I'll try with these pictures from Labor Day at Fripp Island. 1. Trey, 2. bocce on the beach, 3. souvenirs, 4. color palette.

eat, drink, and be merry

Cannot wait for this show on PBS--sounds as though it will start around September 20th. Finally, they have a decent website up, to pique your interest even more. I'm as excited about the food as I am about seeing Gwyneth's wardrobe.

reduce, reuse, recycle

Mom, can I have your old drafting table? From the home of Jill Malek, via design*sponge.

more stripes to love

What gorgeous packaging, created by Good Creative for Pure. If I ever had a shop of all my favorite things, I think the most difficult thing would be choosing the giftwrap! Via black*eiffel.

9.04.2008

fashion week

Get your style.com lookbooks ready, kids, 'cause New York Fashion Week starts Friday. I know my girls will be watching (and by "my girls," I'm talking about two of my all-time favorite style icons, Marina Rust and Aerin Lauder).

words to live by

I love my lululemon yoga pants. And I love their manifesto even more. Especially the part about observing a plant before and after you water it, and thinking of your brain that way, too.

9.03.2008

paris souvenir

I'm not sure if I like Egyptian musk, but I sure do like this little bottle of it from Colette.

hotel le sainte-beuve

I want to go to Paris, now. And I want to stay here. Located in the 6th with a David Hicks designed lobby--what more could a girl ask for?

hicks paper goods

How could you not love these invitations by Sara Hicks Malone? I found them via her great blog, Party Perfect.
P.S. Girls, I might just have to have a little holiday luncheon just so I can send that top invite.
